1 dead, 2 injured in crash on I-275 near Milford; southbound lanes remain closed


One person has died and two people were injured in a crash on Interstate 275 south near Milford Wednesday, according to officials with Ohio State Highway Patrol. As of 8:30 p.m., I-275 south remains closed beyond Milford Parkway/US-50. The crash happened there at around 3:40 p.m.Click here to view WLWT's traffic map.OHSP officials said a tractor-trailer was driving south on I-275 while a 1997 Chevrolet W4 Tiltmaster being driven by Elder Thomas Ocampomejia, 42, of Cincinnati, was also traveling south in the right lane. Ocampomejia had a 32-year-old passenger in his vehicle.The tractor-trailer failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead and hit Ocampomejia's vehicle from behind. Ocampomejia was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.The passenger of the Chevrolet W4 Tiltmaster suffered from serious inquires in the crash. She was taken by UC Air Care to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was taken to Bethesda North Hospital for treatment.Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash, according to OSHP.As of 5 p.m., OSHP expects the highway to be shut down for at least two to three more hours but said it could be even longer. Drivers are asked to seek an alternate route if headed that way.WLWT will provide updates when more information is available.
