Trae Waynes, expected to start at defensive back for the Cincinnati Bengals, will miss their season-opener Sunday against his former team, the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Zac Taylor announced Monday.
Waynes has played five seasons in the National Football League, all with the Vikings. Eli Apple is expected to replace Waynes at starting cornerback.
From The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway:
Waynes suffered a leg injury during practice last month.
After signing a three-year deal worth $42 million with Cincinnati during free agency in 2020, Waynes missed his entire first season with the Bengals because of a pectoral injury.
