Trae Waynes will miss Bengals’ season-opener vs. Vikings

Trae Waynes, expected to start at defensive back for the Cincinnati Bengals, will miss their season-opener Sunday against his former team, the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Zac Taylor announced Monday.

Waynes has played five seasons in the National Football League, all with the Vikings. Eli Apple is expected to replace Waynes at starting cornerback.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Trae Waynes (26) pulls down wide receiver Mike Thomas (80) on a pass during a training camp practice at the Paul Brown Stadium practice facility in downtown Cincinnati on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021.
