If you live on Muddy Creek Road in Westwood or Green Township, the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati might be looking to buy and tear down your house.
A $4 million FEMA grant will help MSD buy and demolish as many as 35 homes in an area that is known to flood, according to a city of Cincinnati news release.
MSD will add another $570,000 to the project to demolish the homes constructed in the 1950s along a former creekbed.
The grant is for homes on Muddy Creek Road between Glenway Avenue and Westbourne Drive.
The property owners have voluntarily chosen to participate in the program, according to the city release.
MSD will restore the area to a natural floodplain or stormwater management area.
The work is expected to take about two years. MSD is working with Ohio Emergency Management Agency on a grant to buy five additional properties on Muddy Creek Road.
