Head coach Zac Taylor comments

The Cincinnati Bengals finalized their 53-man roster on Tuesday afternoon as NFL teams had until 4 p.m. ET to trim their rosters down.

Head coach Zac Taylor and director of player personnel Duke Tobin spent the last 48 hours ironing out the details following the conclusion of the Bengals’ preseason on Sunday. The team went through two rounds of cuts prior to the final 20 cuts that took place in order to get to 53.

To better put into perspective how much Cincinnati's roster has changed since Taylor took over, there's only 13 players who were on the Bengals' roster prior to when he was hired as head coach in 2019. Significant roster turnover has taken place and Taylor is excited about the direction in which his team is headed.

Insight: How the Bengals decided on the first 53-man roster

"I like the overall football intelligence of the team right now," Taylor said of his overall thoughts on his roster. "I think that that leads to faster play, better communication, more good things happen when guys are smart."
