The Pitt Panthers announced Tuesday that former Cincinnati Bearcats linebacker Ryan Manalac is their new linebackers coach.
Manalac, Bucknell's defensive coordinator since 2019, walked on for the Bearcats and played four years. As a senior in 2008, he had a team-best 82 tackles for a UC team that won the Big East Championship and played in the Orange Bowl. Manalac worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2009.
News of Manalac's imminent hiring was reported last week via Twitter from FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman:
Manalac played for current Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi in 2005 and 2006, when Narduzzi was UC's defensive coordinator. Manalac and Narduzzi worked together on former UC head coach Mark Dantonio's staff at Michigan State from 2011 to 2014, when Narduzzi left the Spartans to become the Panthers' head coach.
Bucknell's 2020 season was canceled when the Patriot League announced that it wouldn't play its fall sports seasons because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
