Former Cincinnati Reds fan favorite Brandon Phillips was 3-for-6 with two home runs - including a grand slam - and eight RBIs in the Lexington Legends' 26-12 rout Sunday of the Gastonia Honey Hunters.
Phillips' homers came in the 7th and 8th innings, and were his eighth and ninth of the season.
J.J. Hoover, Phillips' former teammate with the Reds, started the game for the Legends and earned the win despite allowing nine earned runs and 12 hits in five innings.

Phillips, who turned 40 in June, also co-owns the independent Atlantic League team. He and Hoover were teammates in Cincinnati from 2012 to 2016.
Phillips hit .279 with 191 home runs, 851 RBIs, 1,774 hits, 311 doubles, 32 triples and 194 stolen bases in his 11 seasons with the Reds before he was dealt to the Atlanta Braves in 2017. The Reds traded Jeff Stevens to Cleveland for Phillips in April 2006. He shared video in May of his home run and bat flip for the Legends during an exhibition against the Florence Y'alls.
