Bob Huggins’ WVU contract extension to last until he retires

Bob Huggins, the West Virginia Mountaineers' basketball head coach who spent 16 seasons as head coach of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, agreed Thursday to a contract extension with WVU for multiple guaranteed years that will last until he decides to retire, according to a report from's Mike Casazza.

The extension that Huggins signed in November of 2017 was up for another negotiation by July 1, 2022. He is set to make $4.15 million in the 2021-22 season.

Huggins - entering his 15th season as WVU's head coach - ranks eighth in wins among coaches at Div. I programs with 829. His total of 900 as a head coach includes his wins at NAIA Walsh from 1980 to 1983. His 900th career win came in WVU's NCAA Tournament first-round victory.
