A planned Cuban and Latin America fusion restaurant and rum bar that will have a patio with a sweeping view of the Ohio River and Downtown from Newport was announced Thursday.
Amador is scheduled to open at Newport on the Levee in early spring 2022, according to a release on behalf of the riverfront destination.
The "new" Newport on the Levee was unveiled earlier this summer with changes including the addition of cocktail bar The Buzz.
The Levee's mix of attractions includes the Newport Aquarium, AMC Theatres, and restaurants offering dining experiences including Italian and Vietnamese fare.
Construction on the 6,400-foot space for Amador is set to begin in October.
The restaurant will feature a 2,500-square-foot outdoor patio where people will be able to snack on dishes including Cuban sandwiches and empanadas while sipping cocktails including mojitos, daiquiris, and margaritas, according to the release.
The concept for the restaurant is Revolution Rotisserie owner Nick Pesola's take on both an independently-owned Cuban restaurant called a "Paladar" and a blend of his love for Latin American culture, according to the release.
“Newport on the Levee already has a lot of cool stuff going on so we are excited to bring something totally different to the mix," said Pesola in the release.
