Wednesday’s schedule, Tuesday’s results at the Western & Southern Open

Play has been moved up an hour on Wednesday to 10 a.m. at the Western & Southern Open following a rainy Tuesday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center that produced nearly four hours of suspended play. Gates will open at 9 a.m.

Wednesday's schedule is packed with 43 matches.

After first-round byes, the remaining top seeds get their W&S Open underway Wednesday. Second-seeded Naomi Osaka, a four-time Major champion, takes on 17-year-old American Coco Gauff and world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty begins her Cincinnati campaign against Great Britain's Heather Watson. Coming off a title in Toronto last week, 2019 W&S Open champion and No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev will face Mackenzie McDonald, a NCAA champion at UCLA who reached his first career final earlier this month in Washington, D.C.

Naomi Osaka, of Japan, returns a shot against Sofia Kenin, of the United States, during a quarterfinal match of the Western & Southern Open tennis tournament, Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Seven former W&S Open champions will be in action Wednesday.

After a tight loss late Tuesday night ended Madeira native Caty McNally's singles tournament, McNally and Gauff will try to keep some positive momentum in doubles Wednesday night against Spain's Paula Badosa and Sara Sorribes Tormo.
