Louisville Cardinals head coach Chris Mack tests positive for COVID-19

Louisville Cardinals head coach Chris Mack tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss his team's game this week at Virginia Tech, the school announced Sunday night.

Courier-journal.com's Shannon Russell reported that Mack, 51, is experiencing mild symptoms and "will follow protocols and communicate virtually with the team and his staff while he is away from the program."

U of L, 11-4 overall this season and 6-3 in the ACC, also pushed back its game against Pittsburgh on Wednesday night because of additional positive tests, quarantining and contact tracing within the Cardinals' program.

Mack, Xavier's all-time leader in wins as a men's basketball head coach, coached at two local high schools (McAuley and Mt. Notre Dame) and had two stints as an XU assistant. He was Xavier's head coach from 2009 until he left for Louisville in 2018.
