Cincinnati's Bockfest – a celebration of spring, the area's breweries and bock beer – is back on this year. It's going to be a lot different though.
In an effort to keep the celebration safe amid coronavirus, many of the traditional events have been canceled. "Due to the ongoing pandemic, organizers did not feel that we could provide a safe environment for the Parade, Bockfest Hall, Sausage Queen, and other celebrated events," according to a press release.
There will still be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the bock. (A bock is a style of German lager originally brewed in the 14th century in the German town of Einbeck. It's a dark beer featuring very light hops and an extremely quaffable sweet, malty flavor.)
Local butchers will still offer bockwurst for you to take home and eat. Bockfest organizers have also created a series of packages to celebrate Bockfest at home. Two dozen breweries, bars and restaurants are participating this year.
