ESPN baseball analyst Eduardo Pérez, a former Cincinnati Reds player and the son of Hall of Famer and former Big Red Machine great Tony Pérez, tweeted Monday that he thought New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge should have taken a better secondary lead before a play at the plate, and Judge responded early Tuesday via Twitter by suggesting that "experts" like Eduardo lack the recent experience needed to make such an assessment.
Judge's reply:
It's only the eighth time Judge has tweeted during this season, and first related to analysis of his play. In his sixth season with the Yankees, Judge entered Tuesday batting .278 with 23 home runs and 53 RBIs, with an OPS of .873. He was named an All-Star earlier this season, for the third time in his career.
Pérez, 51, played in 208 games over three seasons for the Reds from 1996 to 1998, batting .246 with 23 home runs. He started working for ESPN in 2006, shortly after he retired as a player.
