The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Northern Kentucky and advice to watch out for heavy rain everywhere this weekend.
The flood watch is in effect from late Saturday night through Sunday night. Heavy rain is forecast from Saturday night through Sunday, forecasters said.
More rain is expected south of the Ohio River, but rain may be heavy across the region, forecasters said. The ground is already saturated from snowmelt, forecasters warned.
Flood watch area
So far, the flood watch extends to counties that do not include Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties. The flood watch includes the counties of Bracken, Grant, Owen, Pendleton, Robertson, Mason, and Lewis.
The cities of Augusta, Butler, Crittenden, Dry Ridge, Falmouth, and Williamstown are part of the flood watch area, forecasters said.
Detailed forecast
The rain will start off light in the early morning hours of Saturday.
Forecasters said there is a 60 percent chance of rain overnight, mainly after 3 a.m. Saturday. Less than a tenth of an inch is forecast before 8 a.m. The low temperature will be 41 degrees.
Saturday will bring a 30 percent chance of rain with mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 57 degrees. Less than a tenth of an inch is forecast during the day.
More measurable rain is forecast to start Saturday night with the chance of rain increasing to 90 percent at 1 a.m. Sunday. The overnight low temperature will be 47 degrees.
On Sunday morning, there is a 100 percent chance of rain before 11 a.m., forecasters said. Rainfall totals are forecast to be between a quarter to half an inch. The high temperature for the day will be 62 degrees.
Sunday night will be mostly cloudy with a low temperature of 36 degrees.
The sun will be out for the workweek on Monday. Temperatures are forecast to be 49 degrees for the high, and 24 degrees for the overnight low into Tuesday.
