Joey Votto homers in seventh consecutive game with 9th HR in 7 games

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto became the first player in franchise history with nine home runs in a seven-game span with his sixth-inning home run in Friday night's 6-2 win against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

He's also the first Reds' player to homer in seven consecutive games - and the eighth player in Major League Baseball history to do so.

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto (19) rounds the bases after hitting a solo home run against the New York Mets during the sixth inning at Citi Field on July 30.

Votto is one game shy of matching the MLB record of eight consecutive games with a home run, last accomplished by former Moeller High School standout Ken Griffey Jr. in 1993.
