Coney Island announced new bonus opportunities for its seasonal staff members to help incentivize employees.
Seasonal crew members will receive $1 for every hour worked throughout the summer season if they remain employed with the park through Aug. 16, a press release said Monday.
"Coney Island's new bonus pay is one of many crew member perks launching this season," Rob Schutter, president of Coney Island, said in the release. "We're confident that this added compensation will show our appreciation for our world-class staff and incentivize others to join our team."
Staff members who refer a new employee to work at Coney Island will also receive a $100 referral bonus. Any employee who works over 32 hours in a week will also be entered into a high dollar grand prize raffle that will be drawn at the end of the season.
Coney Island told The Enquirer that the incentives are to help prevent staffing shortages as they reach the end of their summer season. As of now, they remain fully staffed.
Many businesses have faced a staffing shortage this summer, including fellow amusement park Kings Island, which increased some seasonal positions pay to $18 an hour after facing a worker shortage this summer. In May, Kings Island was looking to fill 900 seasonal staff positions.
