Cincinnati Reds: Milwaukee Brewers sweep was so very Cincinnati

I don’t know how you do it. Seriously. Day after week after month after year. Before you know it, it’s decades of getting your heart pounded. Ever see Greek fishermen, slamming octopi on the rocks to tenderize them? Me, neither. But that’s you, NatiFan. You’re an octopi.

Um, Doc. . .

The weekend was classic. Existential Cincinnati sports stuff. Thank-you-sir-may-I-have-another.

Hi, my name is Charlie Brown.

Hi, Charlie Brown.

Anyone casting a sober eye last Friday toward the boffo weekend to come, v. the 1st-place Brewers, would have assumed it would end in abject disappointment. All the stars were aligned.

The Reds had concluded the First Half by winning three of four in Milwaukee. They had Tyler Mahle pitching Friday, against Adrian Houser. Houser is Mr. Nothing Special and he’d already allowed the Reds 10 runs in 13 innings in three previous starts. Cincinnati bolted to a 4-1 lead after 4.

And then, Cincinnati happened.

I don’t have to explain that. You know what I mean. You’ve lived it.
