Bengals’ Joe Burrow on NIL news: Excited for non-scholarship athletes

In his first tweet since April 29, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joey Burrow reacted to news that hundreds of thousands of college athletes are now able to earn name, image or likeness (NIL) compensation, which has been barred for decades by regulations from the NCAA, conferences and/or schools.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) stretches during a mini camp practice inside of Paul Brown Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.

Burrow said the NIL changes are "long overdue," and added he's "most excited for non-scholarship athletes" working jobs "to make ends meet" because they will "make their lives a lot easier."
