First pitch, grand marshal, tv broadcast

The Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday announced Hall of Famer Joe Morgan's daughter and granddaughter, Lisa and Summer will be honorary captains for Opening Day. Ohio Sen. Rob Portman will be throwing out the first pitch for Thursday's game.

The club also announced Marlana VanHoose will sing the national anthem and two F-16 Fighting Falcons of the 112th (one-twelfth) Fighter Squadron “Stingers” from the 180th Fighter Wing Ohio Air National Guard Base in Toledo, Ohio, will perform a pregame flyover, according to a press release.

This is the second year in a row Opening Day has been altered or canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Last year, the start of the Major League Baseball season was delayed until July 23, and reduced to a 60-game schedule. The plan for 2021 is to have a traditional 162-game schedule.

The Reds start the season against NL Central rival St. Louis Cardinals. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Local 12 (WKRC-TV) and Bally Sports Ohio (formerly Fox Sports Ohio) with the radio broadcast on 700-WLW.
