A flash flood watch is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday through Saturday morning in portions of Indiana, Northern Kentucky and Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties in Ohio, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters expect 2 to 4 inches of rainfall in some areas. The storms could produce damaging winds and large hail, with the greatest chance for severe weather between 4 p.m. and midnight.
"Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon and continue into the overnight hours," officials said. "The rain will be heavy at times with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour possible in some of the storms."
People in the flood watch area should stay informed about weather conditions and avoid low-lying areas, according to the National Weather Service. Use caution when approaching highway dips and underpasses.
"Flash flooding can be extremely dangerous, especially overnight, so be sure to be ready to act if warnings are issued," officials said.
