Major League Baseball is investigating "suspicious baseballs" thrown by Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer - who won the National League Cy Young Award last season for the Cincinnati Reds - during his start Wednesday, according to a report Thursday night from The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Rosenthal reported that baseballs collected by the umpires from the game Bauer started against the Oakland A's "had visible markings and were sticky." If balls were doctored, however, it's not known whether MLB would be able to determine who was responsible.
From Bauer via Twitter:
Earlier this week, Bauer was among those questioning Major League Baseball's two-game suspension of Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos for his role in a benches-clearing skirmish with the St. Louis Cardinals last Saturday at Great American Ball Park.
In February, Bauer told Dodger fans he loved them already and was excited to meet them, but to respect his personal space.
Bauer won the first National League Cy Young Award in Cincinnati Reds' history last season. He agreed during the offseason to a reported three-year deal worth $102 million with the Dodgers.
