Colleges and universities begin vaccinating students


College students are finally getting their first shot at receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.Fifth Third Arena is home to the University of Cincinnati's vaccination clinic this weekend.UC Health is partnering with the university to help make it happen."Not only is it convenient but with COVID being such an impactful thing right now, it's nice I can just come here and get it for free," sophomore student Christopher Music said.Many students made appointments ahead of time to receive the one dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.Days ago, Governor Mike DeWine made it clear that the goal is to vaccinate as many college students as possible before the summer starts.Students we spoke with were excited to get back to living life the way they knew it."I'm really excited to travel. I've never really traveled before and also I really want to go back and see my family to make sure that they're all safe and everything," sophomore student Hunter Fain said.The university is not requiring students to get the shots, but they are strongly recommending it.Miami University, also began vaccinating students today.Students there are receiving the Pfizer vaccine, as the university received 3,500 doses from the state.
