You can now get desserts from the Tik Tok-famous bakery chain, Crumbl Cookies, in Cincinnati.
The fast-growing gourmet cookie shop is opening its first local store at 3321 Vandercar Way in Oakley.
While the grand opening is on Thursday, the owners held a soft opening Wednesday to help get their staff acquainted with operating the store.
Jason Little, co-owner of the Cincinnati franchise, said the first day went better than expected.
"We had hundreds of customers come in. It's gone better than we hoped. We haven't done any marketing or advertising, but we've been running at basically maximum capacity," Little said.
He knows that the anticipation has been growing as the chain got more notoriety on social media, especially Tik Tok.
Little said, based on the buzz around Crumbl and what he's seen from other locations holding grand openings, he's sure Thursday will be a busy day.
"Folks are coming in and are excited to try Crumbl. A lot of people have seen it on Tik Tok and other places. But not having had access to a Crumbl, this is the first one in Cincinnati, and people are coming from all over to try it," Little said.
The bakery specializes in gourmet cookies with over 120 specialty flavors that rotate weekly.
Milk Chocolate Chip and Chilled Sugar Cookies are always on the menu, but in addition to those two, every Monday, four flavors are announced for the week.
"People love watching to see if their favorite flavor will be it for the week or if there's something new they want to try. It's a unique concept," Little said. "There's not a lot of bakeries that do fresh baked goods anymore. We have an open kitchen that people can see where the cookies are made and get them served fresh."
The flavors for this week are Confetti Cake, Rocky Road, Kentucky Butter Cake, and Chocolate Andes Mint.
The bakery also offers some of those specialty cookie flavors as ice cream pints.
The Oakley location is open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. Saturday.
The first Crumbl opened in Utah, and the franchise has since expanded to over 175 locations in 31 states.
Little said plans are underway to open locations in West Chester and Mariemont.
"Whichever one opens first depends a lot on permits and licensing. All these things have been very challenging during COVID. It's out of our control what gets done first, but that will ultimately determine what opens first," Little said.
While the Oakley location is opening a bit later than planned due to slowdowns caused by the pandemic, Little said he's glad they finally get to bring Crumbl to Cincinnati.
"People are super excited, and we are too," he said.
