MaCio Teague, a former Walnut Hills High School standout who scored 19 points to help Baylor University win the national championship game earlier this month, announced Thursday via Twitter that he's decided to declare for the 2021 NBA Draft and sign with an agent.
Teague threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Cincinnati Reds' win earlier this month against Cleveland at Great American Ball Park. He told Jim Day during Bally Sports Ohio's broadcast that he'd be making an announcement soon about his future.
Teague scored a game-high 22 points to lead the top-seeded Bears to an 81-72 win against the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Elite Eight to advance to the Final Four.
In March, Teague matched a school record with 10 3-pointers in a game in the Bears' 88-73 win against Texas Tech. Teague's 35-point effort helped Baylor complete an undefeated home schedule for the first time in 73 years.
Teague averaged 15.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 31.6 minutes per game during the season.
Teague announced last July that he was withdrawing his name from NBA Draft consideration to return to Baylor for his senior season. Teague reportedly had signed with NCAA certified agent Trinity Best in May, leaving open the possibility that Teague could return to play college basketball.
Teague averaged 13.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game the previous season as a redshirt junior for the Bears after transferring from UNC Asheville. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor last May.
As a senior at Walnut Hills, Teague averaged 26.4 points per game.
