Lakota West keeps plowing through opponents in OHSAA softball tourney

HAMILTON  - KK Mathis walked twice and didn't get a hit in her one official plate appearance in Tuesday's opening-round playoff game for Lakota West. The rare occasion aggravated her briefly in the dugout as she told an assistant she needs to get it done offensively and defensively.

The successful are never satisfied.

Such is the case of Lakota West's No. 1 ranked softball team in the state. After a perfect 18-0 season in the rugged Greater Miami Conference and a 27-1 record overall, they are an embarrassment of riches.

"We're just coming hard and playing every day like we know how and try to get the job done in the best way," Mathis said.

No Ohio team has beaten them with the one defeat coming against Indianapolis Roncalli, who is 22-2 and the third-ranked team in Indiana.

"You just have to remember that every game's a new game," Molly Grace said. "If we don't come to play then any team can beat us. I just keep reminding girls that."
