Cincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India returned to the active roster on Sunday after a two-day stint on the injured list.
India was placed on the injured list on Friday without an injury designation. He was activated on Sunday while outfielder Mark Payton was optioned to the Reds alternate site in Louisville.
On Sunday, Nick Senzel made his second start of the series against the Chicago Cubs at second base while India was available off the bench.

“(India) hadn’t played for a few days, he was then sick,” manager David Bell said. “He’s 100% healthy today, but it’d be a good day to get him back, get him some swings in the cage and run around a little bit.”

Payton was 1-for-7 at the plate this season, and he’s expected to play for the Triple-A Louisville Bats when their season starts on May 4.
Jesse Winker returns from minor back issue
After missing Saturday’s game with back tightness, Reds outfielder Jesse Winker returned to the lead-off spot on Sunday, and Bell said Winker healed quickly.
“We made that decision just to make sure that he was good to go for today,” Bell said. “His back kind of just locked up on him, and sometimes that can last longer. I think a lot of us have had that.”
Michael Lorenzen heading to Arizona
As he recovers from a slight right shoulder strain, starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen will continue his rehab at the Reds spring training facility in Arizona.
The Reds placed Lorenzen on the 60-day injured list on April 14. Lorenzen will be eligible to return on May 31 at the earliest, but Bell said Lorenzen hasn’t started throwing yet.
“He’s healing up,” Bell said. “He’s still on track. He did respond well to the treatments he’s had, and we’re hoping to have him back in the next couple of months.”

Reds minor league rosters take shape
The Reds Double-A and Low-A minor league teams announced their rosters for the 2021 seasons.
Top pitching prospects Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo and shortstop Jose Garcia will begin the season in Double-A with the Chattanooga Lookouts. Lodolo is a top-60 prospect in MLB, and Greene was the team’s No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft.
Garcia played in 24 MLB games for the Reds with no Double-A experience, and he headlines the Lookouts’ infield in 2021.
The Low-A Daytona Tortugas will have many of the Reds top hitting prospects, including 2020 first round pick Austin Hendrick and infielder Rece Hinds, the No. 8 prospect in the organization.
Reds honor Ralph Drees
Before Sunday's game, the Reds honored Ralph Drees, a former Kenton County judge-executive and a part of the team's ownership group.
The Reds honored Drees, who died in March, with a video tribute on the scoreboard and a moment of recognition for his family members in the stands, including one who threw out the first pitch.
“Ralph was a most beloved member of the Reds ownership,” said Reds CEO Bob Castellini in a statement in March. “Ralph was a huge Reds fan and attending many games with his wife Irma. He was a most accomplished, wonderful man, and our Reds family will miss having him dearly."
