Cincinnati Reds-Chicago White Sox game delayed until 7:35 p.m.

Update: The Reds announced Tuesday's game against the Chicago White Sox will begin at 7:45 p.m. It'll be a one-hour, five-minute delay if the game begins on its new start time.

Original story:

About 90 minutes before the scheduled first pitch between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, the Great American Ball Park grounds crew rolled the tarp over the infield.

There was some rain over the next hour, not heavy rain, but the start of Tuesday's game was delayed. The Reds may have an update around 7 p.m.

The Reds haven't had a game postponed because of rain this season, though they did have a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks suspended in the eighth inning because of heavy rain/sleet.

The two teams are scheduled to play the second game of their two-game series at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday. The Reds have won four of their last six games and the White Sox are 9-4 in their last 13 games.

It's the only time the White Sox travel to Cincinnati this season. The Reds will play two games in Chicago in September.

Fans mill about the seating bowl as a rain delay is called before the first inning of the MLB Interleague game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Sox at Great American Ball Park in downtown Cincinnati on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
