Teen could be tried as an adult for murder, even though he didn't pull the trigger

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A local teen will have to wait a few days to learn if he'll be tried as an adult for the murder of his friend. Amariyon Colbert is charged with murder, even though he didn't pull the trigger.

The 15-year-old has been in custody since June. That's when police say he and Jordan Lara tried to rob a woman on Reading Road in Avondale.

The woman pulled a gun and shot Lara in the abdomen. He died at the hospital.

Colbert's mother pleaded with the judge to allow her son to get treatment.

“Jordan was my son’s friend too. He still hasn’t grieved or got over that concept. He doesn’t have the mental capacity of an adult to understand that. A mother’s love can only do so much as a child.”

The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office recommends Colbert to be bound over to adult court because he had a gun and was on probation.

The judge said he'll rule on Nov. 5.
