CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Smithsonian exhibit brings a national treasure to the Queen City with the Apollo 11 command module Columbia, the only portion of the historic spacecraft to return to Earth.
The exhibit features more than 20 original Apollo 11-flown objects and models and videos that detail the journey of the crew, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, including Buzz Aldrin’s helmet and gloves.
Cincinnati is the fifth and final stop for the exhibit. It started touring in October 2017. You can see the exhibit until it closes on February 17th.
Unique to the exhibit’s stop in Cincinnati is a special component: “A New Moon Rises.” It’s a companion gallery that features large-scale photographs of the lunar surface.
The Museum Center will also show the Omnimax film, Apollo 11: First Steps Edition.
