Jesse McCartney to perform in Cincinnati in May

- That's probably one of the only regrets. It was just all kind of wrong. Oh now I'm an unemployed actor in LA. - I'm Jesse McCartney, I'll be revealing some of the more dramatic moments in my career, and giving you guys the inside scoop. ♪ I don't want another pretty face ♪ ♪ I don't want just anyone to hold ♪ This pool was freezing cold. I think you can see it on my chest. That pool was an icicle. My first music video. This was the song, this is what sort of put me on the map. I think I became sort of a household name among young tween girls and boys. The guy who directed that video ended up becoming a superstar director. His name is Marc Webb and ended up directing Spider man he was really good with me because it was my first time shooting a music video, my lead actress was much older than me and I was very intimidated by her. I was like 16 years old, and she was in her early 20s and you know I was trying to be like cool flirty guy, but I was still very uncomfortable in my own skin. Literally I took the SATs like a week before that music video was filmed. I didn't know it at the time that this moment, this song would be forever a huge part of my life, my career, it wasn't until much later that it all hit me like wow this is the song, this is what, it's happening. ♪ Because you live and breathe ♪ ♪ Because you make me believe in myself ♪ Oh man. I think we shot this in, yep, Sydney Adelaide. This was my first trip to Australia. I don't think at this point I had ever been outside of the United States. And like all of a sudden I'm in this new country and there's people that know my name, that know the lyrics to the song. Not only know my name but are screaming my name. This was the moment where it went from being a small town thing to a worldwide international thing. I remember I think at the time I was 18 so I could have a beer, which was very exciting for an 18 year old. Oh boy. All right so this is, you know, the Hannah Montana. In this scene she's kicking me out. I think I'm like crushing on her too hard in this scene. Ow, still so cute. This show I think was also one of the moments people remember most when fans come up to me at shows, and I was only in like I think one episode. And Miley was such a joy to work with, we're still friends. One of the most professional people I've ever met. She was a little younger than me even in that. She was just so poised, and I remember thinking like this girl's going to own the universe. I really did not like the take that they chose, I gotta be honest with the nose going up against the window. I was like okay, but, comedy I guess. - So Coop, are you gonna come work for me or what? - Normally I'd say I'd never go mainstream and work for a rich. - Hey Jon. That's Jon Sadowski, Jonathan Sadowski. Great actor, also happens to be one of my best friends. We actually met shooting a horror film, a thriller together called Chernobyl Diaries, and years later we ended up doing this television show together. He calls me and he's like Jess, are you doing Young and Hungry? I'm like yeah yeah I got cast as a guest star on the show. He goes dude it's my show, I'm the star of the show with Emily Osman. Who also I worked with on Hannah Montana. Hell to the yizzy. Cooper was a real nerd, there's no question. Emily are we good, are we cool? How like, how can we, she's like sell it, sell it. Emily's one of the easiest people to work with. Jonathan wasn't cool with that. That's why he subsequently knocks me out cold. Actually I think in that clip, we did a couple takes and one of the takes he actually slightly caught the tip of my chin on one of the takes. Inevitably if you do it long enough you're gonna get caught in the chin. Jonathan's like an amateur boxer too, he should know better. ♪ Missing you crazy ♪ ♪ How do you how do you sleep ♪ Oh boy, okay so this is How Do You Sleep. This was my second or third single from my Departure album with Ludacris. This is when I went into sort of like an R&B phase, and we shot this in the desert in the middle of like Simi Valley. I was literally jumping from car to car. We had a lot of really badass cars during that video shoot. One of the most legendary rappers of all time Ludacris of course featured in it who I grew up listening to, one of my favorite rap artists of my generation. When he agreed to do this song and the video I was over the moon. I remember I was in Colorado, I was on a ski trip with my family, and they sent me the video and I was watching it in the chairlift for the first time on my way up a mountain. Like just beaming ear to ear, and then I dropped my cell phone and I didn't get to finish watching the video. The phone sunk into the snow and I never, I had to wait the entire day to actually see his part of the video, but it was pretty cool. - I told dad that David Hayward gave me the drugs. - Why would you do that? Why would you lie? - I don't know mom, I was mad. - So creepy seeing the 11 year old version of myself. I don't know how old I am, maybe 13. I think it is the first television gig I ever had. Also one of the most difficult. Partly because I think I was 13 years old and my memory just wasn't up to snuff. But soap operas, people don't realize how much work it is. An unbelievable amount of dialog, I was working with a cast of adults so I was always intimidated even though they were the nicest people on the planet. Those were some of my fondest memories, some of my earliest memories of being in the biz. All right so this is Masked Singer season three. - Jesse McCartney. - You guys see. - Probably the most inane, ridiculous things I've ever done in my life. That costume was almost unbearable to perform in. So my mother emailed me, I know your secret, I can't believe you haven't told me. I'm watching, I love you, you're doing good. And I just never replied, because you can't. People have told her did you, is that maybe, could it be? And she's like no, he would have told me. And then she watched, and she was a little upset at first but then she was rooting me on. Literally the only person that knew was my manager and my fiancee. If I was sneaking off every morning and coming home late at night she'd be a little suspicious. Plus I was wearing like a mask when I left the house. They pick you up in a car, they put a sweatshirt on you, they put gloves on your hands so they can't see the color of your skin. They put a hoodie over you, a mirrored mask. It's like a serious operation. So I had to tell Katie because she would have been like what is happening? - My parents called from Patagonia this morning. They're fly fishing. - Before the CW children, it was called the WB. It was everything if you were in middle school and high school, and this show was very short lived but it was popular among 16 year olds. Brayden had a, he was dating a lot of girls on that show. One of my first experiences moving to Los Angeles, I got to work my first television show in Malibu three days a week. I was like wow this is what it's like? This is amazing. I used to go to the beach every day, I got to surf, they paid for surfing lessons. It was a dream job, and then when it got canceled after two seasons and then became the CW, it was like back to reality. It was like oh now I'm an unemployed actor in LA, this is not what it's like. ♪ Call me when you're high ♪ ♪ End of the party I'm your guy ♪ This is one of my favorite music videos I've ever done. That is my real life fiancee there, that's Katie. I played I think like six or seven different characters including a 65 year old woman. The original concept and idea was Katie and myself, we wrote this whole concept of doing this old school tacky cheesy daytime soap opera kind of vibe. And it was actually I think the first video I did with my girl, so pretty special. Okay so there is one role, I played an apocalyptic pirate in a show called Fear the Walking Dead. And I gained about 35 pounds, and a lot of people didn't even recognize me. I thought it was great, but people are like what has happened to Jesse McCartney? This is like three months of facial hair, I just want everyone to know this. And it's still on my face, but at the time it wasn't well thought out or grown, so it was growing in like patchy and weird. It was just all kind of wrong. That's probably one of the only regrets is having to like do that on television publicly. You're playing a certain role, that's what you do. But it certainly wasn't fun reading all the comments on Instagram, let me tell you. Thank you guys so much for hanging out. Check on my new single, it's called Kiss the World Goodbye. Mid-2000s icon Jesse McCartney is bringing his tour to Cincinnati in May.The singer will be performing his "The 'New Stage' 2021 Tour" at Bogart's on May 3. This is a rescheduled show from Nov. 27.Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show is at 8 p.m.Before guests enter Bogart's they must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of the event or provide full COVID-19 vaccination status.Concertgoers can sign up to receive a rapid COVID-19 antigen test onsite the day of the concert for $25.General admission tickets cost $28.
