Northern Kentucky University's business school, formerly known as Haile/U.S. Bank College of Business, will now be called the Haile College of Business, officials announced Thursday.

NKU, founded in 1968, serves more than 16,000 students and employs more than 2,000 faculty and staff. The public university is located in Highland Heights.
The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. Foundation, which the business school is named after, rebranded itself earlier this year by dropping the "U.S. Bank" portion of its name.
In a January letter to the community, foundation president and CEO Tim Maloney explained the genesis of the foundation: It was started as a private family foundation by Ralph and Carol Haile, with U.S. Bank named as the trustee prior to their deaths.
Ralph Haile was the chairman, CEO and president of Peoples Liberty Bank in Covington, which was acquired by U.S. Bank in 1988, the letter reads. The couple included the bank's name in their foundation in recognition of that partnership.
"Ralph and Carol liked the idea of the bank benefiting from the ‘co-branding’ associated with the Foundation’s impact," Maloney wrote. "However, over the past years this has resulted in brand confusion, and we’ve realized the name is long and at times difficult to use. Therefore, we’ve decided to clarify the two brands and shorten our name to better reflect our private foundation brand."
U.S. Bank remains a trustee of the organization, Maloney said.
The foundation gifted NKU $15 million in 2008 for the college of business, the university's most significant gift at the time, according to Thursday's news release.
“By simplifying and modernizing our name, while still paying homage to our heritage, we have the opportunity to create an incredible new energy for the Haile College of Business,” said Dean Hassan HassabElnaby.
NKU's Haile College of Business is introducing the Eva G. & Oakley Farris Leadership Academy this fall. The year-long program allows students to focus on leadership and other talents.
The college will soon open the Verst Group Logistics Hub of Supply Chain Excellence, officials said, which will connect students with members of the community in the transportation and logistics industries, governmental agencies and other groups.
