A family tree that has branched out to several colleges with top athletes continues to flourish as yet another Wolf will compete at the next level.
Shayna Wolf, a rising senior at Mount Notre Dame and daughter of Steve and Jeanne Wolf, will play beach volleyball at Florida Atlantic University. The Owls compete in Conference USA where some schools offer beach and traditional volleyball.
Wolf's recruitment was far from traditional as the defensive specialist/outside hitter missed all of MND's state semifinal run last season due to a torn ACL.
After rehabbing her knee, she resumed beach volleyball activities this summer.
Through all of the adversity, she caught the eyes of FAU coach Capri Grotowski and her assistant coach Steve Grotowski and committed to play beach volleyball for the Sandy Owls in Boca Raton, Florida. FAU finished 8th nationally in the NCAA.
Capri Grotowski was named Conference USA Coach of the Year but sadly died from cancer last month. Her husband, Steve Grotowski, a former pro beach player now takes over the program and will coach Shayna.
Shayna was on the MND squad when the Cougars won in 2020 at Vandalia Butler. Sister Stevie won a state championship in 2019 and is currently playing volleyball for Christi Pffenburger at Xavier University.
Oldest sister Sabrina won three state championships at Mount Notre Dame in volleyball and went on to play at the University of Cincinnati for Molly Alvey.
The lone brother, Chase, won a state championship at St Xavier in football and is currently a quarterback for the University of Wisconsin Football for Coach Paul Chryst.

Backtracking, the Wolf family has been highly successful as previously documented in The Enquirer. Shayna's father Steve is one of six sons of Charley and Loraine Wolf. Steve played at St. Xavier and moved on to college basketball at North Carolina State and Xavier. He currently is a color commentator for CBS Sports Network.
Father Charley was a three-sport star at St. Xavier, where all of the boys attended. He went on to play at Notre Dame and eventually coached in the NBA with the hometown Cincinnati Royals, then the Detroit Pistons.
As he found tennis to be beneficial to basketball, all of the boys played tennis. In addition to college basketball. Oldest son Marty won five Cincinnati Metropolitan tennis tournaments after his Xavier basketball career. Jeff Wolf played basketball at Rollins College and won six Cincinnati Met tennis crowns. Greg, Daniel and David were basketball and tennis at St. Xavier. Greg moved on to basketball at Spring Hill College in Alabama, with Daniel and David playing at Rollins.
Marty's sons Martin (Hanover), Johnny (Xavier, UNC-Wilmington) and Nick (Rollins) all moved to the college hardwood and daughter Kristen Wolf Kronauge played tennis at Xavier. Her son Jack Kronauge was the top basketball scorer for Lakota East last season.
Greg Wolf's oldest daughter Andrea played tennis at MND, then Xavier. Kelsey Wolf was an Ohio volleyball Player of the Year, Under Armour All-American and played at Kentucky. Margo Wolf was Ohio Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year at MND before advancing on to Dayton.
Jeff's son J.J. and daughter Danielle, played tennis at Cincinnati Country Day before moving on to Ohio State. J.J. is a tennis pro who has played at the Western & Southern Open in Mason.
Daniel's daughter Samantha Wolf was on the Division I All-Ohio first team at MND in volleyball and was at Wright State in 2020.
The future FAU Sandy Owl Shayna Wolf begins her senior season at MND Aug. 29 in the opener against Centerville.
