Firefighter Dale Brown died of cancer linked to his job in 2019

The late Covington Fire Lt. Dale Brown was honored at the Kentucky Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Frankfort this week. His wife, Jenny, and his co-worker, Lt. Jimmy Adams, attended the ceremony.

The late Covington Fire Lt. Dale Brown will be among more than 200 firefighters honored this weekend at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Earlier this week, he was among 14 firefighters whose names were added to the Kentucky Fallen Firefighter Memorial during services in Frankfort.

Brown served in Covington for 25 years and died of cancer linked to his job in 2019, the city said in a news release.

“There are no more essential workers than our first responders: Those who run into a burning building; those who get up every morning, put on their uniforms and leave the safety of their homes and families willing to risk their lives for others,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said at the 20th annual fallen firefighter memorial service Wednesday at Juniper Hill Park.
