In the past month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Cincinnati have seized five shipments of counterfeit COVID-19 vaccination cards.
The shipments contained 1,683 counterfeit COVID-19 vaccination cards and 2,034 fake Pfizer inoculation stickers, according to a press release from U.S. Customs.
The cards displayed a logo for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention but officers also noticed misspellings and substandard printing, the press release said.
The shipments originated in China and were being imported by nonmedical entities in private residences and apartments in Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New York and Texas.
It is against federal law to buy or make fake vaccination cards.
CBP has seized thousands of counterfeit COVID-19 vaccination cards in Chicago, Memphis, Anchorage, and Pittsburgh.
