Hamilton County new COVID cases drops but Labor Day may affect data

New coronavirus cases saw a decline in the Ohio counties in Greater Cincinnati, and a rise in Northern Kentucky in the week ending Sunday, a week that included the Labor Day holiday.

Statewide, new COVID-19 cases increased 10% in Ohio last week as the state added 45,427 cases. The previous week had 41,303 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Ohio ranked 18th among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week coronavirus cases in the United States decreased 11.9% from the week before, with 1,010,209 cases reported. With 3.51% of the country's population, Ohio had 4.5% of the country's cases in the last week. Across the country, 19 states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.
