Mike Moustakas exits Cincinnati Reds-Miami Marlins game with injury

MIAMI – Mike Moustakas exited Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins after striking out in the second inning with right hip tightness.

Moustakas, the Cincinnati Reds' third baseman, had four balls hit in his direction in Miami's five-run first inning. Leadoff hitter Miguel Rojas hit a ground ball to Moustakas to begin the inning and Moustakas hopped on his left leg a couple of times after the ball rolled into left field.

Later in the first inning, Moustakas successfully fielded a ground ball down the third-base line, planting with his right foot, but he was unable to throw out Brian Anderson, resulting in an infield single.

Moustakas was activated from the 60-day injured list after a right foot injury at the beginning of August.

Asdrúbal Cabrera replaced Moustakas at third base in the bottom of the second inning, making his Reds debut after he was claimed off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.

Moustakas struck out in three pitches in his lone at-bat against Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara.
