Notre Dame football head coach Brian Kelly, who was the University of Cincinnati Bearcats' head coach from 2007 to 2009, said during NBC Sports' "Race in America: A Candid Conversation" that Fighting Irish defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Marcus Freeman - who left the Bearcats for South Bend after last season - is "going to be the next head coach."
Freeman was UC's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach from 2017 to 2020. The Bearcats hired Mike Tressel to replace Freeman.
