Ex-Middletown HS star goes from Nats to Red Sox

Former Middletown High School standout Kyle Schwarber was traded Thursday night from the Washington Nationals to the Boston Red Sox, according to multiple reports.

Nationals outfielder Kyle Schwarber circles the bases after his leadoff home run against the Marlins on Thursday.

Right-handed pitcher Aldo Ramirez is believed to be headed from Boston to Washington in exchange for Schwarber.

Schwarber is one of 11 players on MLB rosters from a Greater Cincinnati high school and/or former Cincinnati Bearcats, Miami RedHawks or Xavier Musketeers.

Last month, Schwarber - in his first season with the Nats - became the first player in Major League Baseball history to hit 15 home runs in a 17-day span.

But Schwarber left a game earlier this month with an injured right hamstring, and was placed on the 10-day injured list.

Schwarber, 28, is in his seventh Major League Baseball season.
