After Thursday, the Cincinnati Reds will only have two scheduled days off before the start of September. Many players would be thinking about how to enjoy some rest and relaxation between the end of Wednesday's Business Day Special against the New York Mets and Friday night's series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park.
Not Joey Votto. The oldest and longest-tenured Reds player apparently headed to the Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy - per Adam Duwel via Twitter - after the 7-0 loss to the Mets, to coach young baseball players:
Votto has been among the academy's biggest donors, and its indoor training facility is named for him. He also recently visited campers in the academy's Cincinnati Reds Home Base program.
