While Democratic President Joe Biden is hosting a town hall meeting in Cincinnati Wednesday night – possibly at Mount St. Joseph University in suburban Delhi Township – local Republicans are having their own gathering.
And that location is already announced. It will be at Linnie's Pub, a Delhi Township pub that made international headlines in April when the owner refused to show NBA games on television in the wake of statements NBA star LeBron James made about a fatal police shooting of a teen in Columbus.
The Linnie's Pub vs. James dust-up started when the Ohio-born basketball star posted a call for "ACCOUNTABILITY" on Twitter in response to a fatal officer-involved shooting in Columbus, Ohio.
Jay Linneman, owner of Linnie's Pub, publicly announced that he would halt airing NBA games at the bar until James was "expelled" from the league.
"Aww Damn," James tweeted sarcastically in response. "I was headed there to watch our game tonight and have a drink! Welp."
Hamilton County Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou said his 7:30 p.m. Wednesday gathering will "offer a different view than Joe Biden has for our region."
Then he added, "Join me!"
Triantafilou told The Enquirer the party will use the Biden visit "as an opportunity to gather and remember why we are involved. And we'll use it as a rallying cry for our volunteers and delivering Ohio for Republicans."
Biden will be in Cincinnati as part of a CNN-hosted town hall meeting that will air live at 8 p.m.
