Motorcyclist dead, another injured in Fairfield Township crash


A motorcyclist is dead and a second driver was injured in a crash in Fairfield Township Tuesday afternoon. It happened just after 3:30 p.m. on the State Route 4 Bypass at State Route 129. According to officials with the Fairfield Township Police Department, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was driving northbound on the bypass at the time of the crash. That motorcycle crashed into a southbound Dodge Dart that was turning left onto the eastbound State 129 entrance ramp, police said. The motorcyclist, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the Dodge Dart was taken to Bethesda Butler Hospital for an evaluation. Witnesses told crash investigators that the motorcyclist was traveling "at a high rate of speed and changed lanes multiple times, passing other northbound cars just prior to the crash," according to a press release from the police department.The crash remains under investigation.
