Loveland girls fall in state semifinals

MASON - They had about a 100-mile bus ride in Wednesday's rain but Dublin Coffman's girls lacrosse team also had a coach named Murphy and the luck of the Irish in their Division I state semifinal triumph over Loveland.

After leading the match 2-1 early, Loveland never led again and Coffman was able to chew down the clock in the final five minutes to prevail 9-7. Senior Josey Storm deposited Loveland's final goal with 5:31 remaining and that would be the final score of the season for coach Amanda Setser's Tigers.

Coach Mike Murphy's Shamrocks played keep-away long enough to keep playing. A damp bus ride home was their reward, but in their happiness, no one cared.

"Not at all, not at all," Murphy said grinning. "When they told us we were coming here we just said, 'No matter where it is, we just have to go play the game. Make the trip and enjoy it.' "
