Aldi, Meijer changing mask mandate for fully vaccinated customers

Two major retailers have joined the growing list of companies revising their mask mandates following updated guidelines for fully vaccinated people from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Ohio's own loosening of restrictions.

Aldi and Meijer have both updated their own policies, and will no longer require fully vaccinated customers to wear a mask or face covering inside either retailer's stores.

However, store employees at Meijer will still be required to wear a face covering, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Aldi's policy amendment is effective Tuesday, and still requires all unvaccinated customers to continue wearing masks and physically distancing.

"Effective May 26, Aldi employees who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to wear a face covering," a statement from the company reads. "There may also be local conditions, regulatory changes or laws that affect our guidance."
