Procter & Gamble has signed a long-term deal with Prince Harry and wife, Meghan's, Archewell Foundation to promote social causes of gender equality, internet civility and parasports.
P&G said it has been committed to its communities and equality for a long time, but was also "inspired" the mission of the couple's foundation "that with community, and through compassionate service to others, we can drive systemic cultural change, benefitting everyone."
"Based on shared values, this partnership is focused on doing more (and doing better, together) for communities, for equality, and for our global collective wellbeing—one compassionate act at a time," the foundation said in a statement.
The Cincinnati-based consumer products giant and the royal couple outlined future plans to work together to promote the causes. P&G pledged more details "in the weeks and months ahead."
- To promote gender equity, the partnership pledged to "elevate the voices of adolescent girls" and engage "men and boys in the drive for gender equity throughout society." The statement said it would build on P&G's work with Promundo, a global nonprofit that advocates for gender equality and preventing violence against women.
- To make the world wide web a better place, the partners committed to "a joint effort in support of building a better online environment that unlocks positive, compassionate, and creative spaces." The statement noted the couple has advocated for more online civility in a specially curated edition of TIME 100 Talks, called 'Engineering a Better World.'
- To boost parasports, the partnership said it would "leverage the platform of Para sport to increase visibility and inclusivity." The statement noted the royal couple has supported similar efforts that "showcase the power of sport in the recovery of wounded, injured, and sick service members and veterans."
