Two Kokomo, Indiana police officers were presented with a special award for their quick thinking when they helped a woman give birth on the side of the road last month.It happened on April 11 around 2:27 p.m. when the two officers, Samantha Raber and Gabrielle Uhrin, were on a call when a child ran toward them from a van, saying his mother was having a baby inside the vehicle. The officers sprang into action and went to the van where they found a woman in active labor.The officers immediately called for a medic while helping guide her and deliver the baby.Shortly after the baby was delivered, the medics arrived and took the mother and baby to a nearby hospital.The mother and baby are doing fine, police reported.Kokomo Police Chief presented Raber and Uhrin with Exceptional Duty medals for their swift actions that day.
