Andy Kennedy, a Cincinnati Bearcats assistant coach from 2001 to 2005 who also bridged the gap as head coach between Bob Huggins and Mick Cronin, signed a new six-year deal to remain head coach of the UAB Blazers through the 2026-27 season, the school announced Friday.
The Blazers finished the 2020-21 season with a 22-7 record overall, 13-5 in Conference USA.
Kennedy's compensation will be $725,000 per season, plus incentive compensation for postseason play and exceptional performances, per uabsports.com.
In March 2020, Kennedy agreed to a six-year deal to become the head coach at UAB.
Kennedy coached at Ole Miss from 2006 to 2018 before joining the SEC Network as a studio analyst. The winningest head coach in Ole Miss history, Kennedy took the job with the Rebels after leading the Bearcats to a 21-13 record and NIT appearance in 2005-06.
Earlier this week, Cronin signed a two-year contract extension as the UCLA Bruins' head coach.
