The Banks' Galla Park posted on Facebook that management takes 'full responsibility for any and all reported circumstances within our control' in response to a city of Cincinnati lawsuit seeking to declare the bar and restaurant a nuisance and have it shut down.
The city of Cincinnati filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court alleging the bar allows underage drinking. The lawsuit said a patron was dragged outside the bar and left unconscious and that it had been the site of numerous bar fights, including one so large that Downtown's Joe Nuxhall Way had to be shut down to break it up.
The lawsuit alleged the city gave three warnings to Galla Park, which were ignored.
The suit named PMG Cincinnati Inc., the company name Galla Park operates under; Michael Mercer, Galla Park's manager; and NIC Riverbanks Retail One, which owns the property.
"The Galla Park defendants operate without regard to liquor law and are a persistent source of drunken disorder in the heart of downtown Cincinnati," the lawsuit alleged.
The lawsuit asked a judge to declare Galla Park a nuisance and padlock it shut for one year. The case has not yet been set for a hearing, according to court records.
"We intend on, and always have been prideful on being a good tenant, neighbor, and providing a safe environment for our guests in the Downtown Cincinnati area," the Wednesday Facebook post read.
The post noted the pandemic has been a challenging time.
"Our intent is to rectify all claims from the city, and to provide a safe, casual, and fun environment for our guests and neighbors," the post said. "We will continue to, and will be aggressively working with city leaders and officials during this process to make any and all necessary changes to grow, be better, & build our community bonds within the city."
