Former University of Cincinnati Bearcats standout Jacob Evans III scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-12 from the field - including 4-of-5 from 3-point range - with seven rebounds, three assists and a steal in 29 minutes off the bench to help the Santa Cruz Warriors rout the Erie BayHawks on Tuesday in Orlando and clinch an NBA G League playoff berth.
It was Evans' third game with the Warriors since they acquired him last week from the G League player pool. Evans started the season with the BayHawks, and wore No. 44 to honor former LSU basketball player Wayde Sims. He is wearing No. 15 for the Warriors.
From the G League's Twitter account:
Evans was acquired in January along with forward Omari Spellman by the BayHawks, an affiliate of the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans.
The Minnesota Timberwolves traded Evans, Spellman and a future second-round draft pick to the New York Knicks for forward Ed Davis last November.
Evans, 23, was traded last February by the Golden State Warriors with D'Angelo Russell and Spellman to the Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins, a 2021 first-round draft pick and a 2021 second-round draft pick.
He was selected 28th overall by the Warriors in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft.
