The interactive, instructional stream was featured across MLB Network’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch accounts as well as MLB.com. The stream featured pitching breakdowns by MLB Network’s Ryan Dempster, Al Leiter, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz, Cleveland’s Triston McKenzie, and Garrett. The 353,000 statistic is a 35% increase over MLB Network’s first-ever live stream of #SandlotToTheShow from this past December which featured 8 different MLB Network analysts.
Last night’s live stream builds off the #SandlotToTheShow campaign, which began in 2019 and has been featured throughout MLB Network’s on-air studio show programming. MLB Network analysts have provided individualized feedback to more than 650 youth baseball and softball players across the country. Special guests have also participated in #SandlotToTheShow, including National Baseball Hall of Fame electees Derek Jeter and Larry Walker, three-time National League MVP Award winner Albert Pujols, and Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson. #SandlotToTheShow most recently won a 2020 National Sports Emmy Award in the Social TV Experience category, marking the first time MLB Network has won in that category.
