Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones tested positive for COVID-19 today.
That's according to an email from Sgt. Kim Peters, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.
"He has no idea where he contracted COVID. He will be quarantined the prescribed amount of time required from the Health Department," she said, when asked for a specific number of days.
"No one (else) at the Sheriff’s Office will quarantine due to his COVID diagnosis."
Peters said today's positive test is the third test Jones has taken.
"The Sheriff is experiencing light symptoms. Sniffles, headache and sneezing," she said.
And, even though he qualifies, Jones "will not get the vaccine before his deputies or other law enforcement," Peters said.
