Kentucky reported 1,710 new COVID-19 cases and 10 coronavirus-related deaths Sunday as the state's positivity rate continued to fall, Gov. Andy Beshear announced.
That marks the fifth straight week of declining cases for the first time since the pandemic began.
"We always hate to have one death, but with what we'd been seeing lately these are positive numbers," Beshear said.
The state's positivity rate was below 7% for the third-straight day on Sunday, at 6.78%.
Kentucky reported less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases Saturday. The commonwealth has now seen a total of 388,798 cases and 4,282 since the start of the pandemic.
On the vaccine front, Kentucky had inoculated 540,067 people as of Sunday, according to the state's tracker.

More than 45,800 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
Indiana reported another 1,233 cases and 24 deaths Sunday, bringing the state's totals since the start of the pandemic to 648,875 cases and 11,746 deaths.
